Every child should have the chance to plant a tree
Cub Scouts from South East Berkshire planted trees which were generously provided by the Woodlands Trust to mark 100 years of Scouting.
In spite of the bad weather forecast for the week-end the Cubs found gaps in the showers to plant the 60 tree and bush saplings at the Earleywood Scout Campsite in South Ascot. Their thanks also go to the Bracknell Forest Borough Council Rangers who provided the necessary protection for the saplings to survive attack from the local wild life.

Centenary Party - 17th November 2007
Over 400 of us had a great time at the District Party celebrating 100 years of Scouting at the Licenced Victuallers School, Ascot on Saturday 17th November. It was great to have the Groups from Binfield, Bracknell, Ascot, South Ascot, Sunningdale and the District Fellowship celebrating this milestone together.
Activities at the Party included street dancing, circus skills, bouncy castles and variety of games together with a dodge ball competition for the Scouts and Explorer Scouts. We were also entertained by a performance of conjuring and magic.
A wonderful spread of food together with a magnificent birthday cake, made by Norman, a Cub Scout Leader from Sunningdale, supplied the sustenance for this worthy celebration of Baden-Powell's successful experiment in 1907.
The leaders and the Fellowship ended the day with a relaxing chat, a quiz and liquid refreshments in the School Bar.
The event was enhanced by a very generous £1,000 grant from the Berkshire Community Foundation.
300 members from all sections (6yrs -75yrs.) walked up the Long Mile in Windsor Great Park to the Copper Horse and 10kms around the Great Park on a beautiful sunny day in March and raised over £3,000 in sponsorship monies for Comic Relief. This was our first event planned to mark the Centenary of Scouting.
St George’s Day 2007
400 members were joined this year by members of Girlguiding Berkshire for the parade up the High Street in the Bracknell Centre past the Bandstand where the Borough and Town Mayor joined the County Commissioner in taking the salute.
A Service of Thanksgiving and Re-dedication in the Bracknell Family Church, the Kerith Centre followed, Members were joined by the Civic Leaders, Guests from Scouting and Guiding in Berkshire and 150 parents.
To mark the Centenary of Scouting Service, photographs were projected on to a screen depicting Scouting through the ages, starting with B-P in the early days through the years to the present time.
