Scout Active Support is for anyone over the age of 18 years.  Essentially a Scout Active Support Unit is a group of like minded adults who have one thing in common - to provide "active support" to Scouting locally, nationally and internationally.

Our Active Support Unit (formally South East Berkshire District Scout Fellowship) is made up of men and women of all ages, interests and backgrounds, whether or not they have been involved with Scouting or Guiding before.  Their main involvement is with Scouting in our District but they also become involved in events in Berkshire and further afield.

All our members are there because they wish to give some of their time to help Scouting - this can be as much or as little as they want in a wide range of activities.

What does our Scout Active Support Unit do?

We support the Leaders from the Beaver, Cub and Scout Sections at various District events and activities including football and chess competitions, fundays and quizzes, wide games and challenges. We are also involved in District Camps, the District St George's Day Parade and Service and the District AGM.  Additionally a good number of our members are involved with the Gang Show in a variety of ways. Many of our members are also Leaders within the Groups in the District and some are District Leaders.

Our Scout Active Support Unit draws its support basically from the area covered by Binfield, the northern part of Bracknell, Warfield, Ascot, South Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale.

Not all our time is spent in providing active support to the Sections - we do organise our own social events (all good team building exercises) and these include walks, an annual dinner, BBQs, weekends away - camping, etc.

With the changes introduced by our National HQ the South East District Scout Fellowship became the District Scout Active Support Unit at their final fellowship AGM in May 2010 and all members now wear the new Active Support Badge.

Thank you for reading this far and if you think you have some spare time (and it does not have to be a great deal) and you would like to give some support to Scouting locally then why not come and join us. If you would like more information please fill in this contact form and we'll get back to you.
